The EU Water Innovation Conference 2019 will be held on 12 December in Zaragoza, an event that was created with the aim of promoting policy and management towards ambitious objectives in the protection of water and innovation.

The Conference is conceived as a meeting place, where participants can obtain information, debate on the main topics of interest in the sector or establish collaborative networks that promote and improve innovation, focusing on new technologies, governance and policies.

The event will bring together more than 600 participants and 30 high-level papers with speakers such as:

  • Dr. Susan Gardner (UNEP);
  • Dr. Maria Neira (WHO);
  • Steven Schonberger (World Bank);
  • David Martin (Ecolab); and
  • Veronica Manfredi (EC).

Following in the footsteps of previous European Innovation Partnership (EIP) water conferences, the objective of the EU Water Innovation Conference 2019, which will feature more than 600 international experts and 30 high-level papers, will be to accelerate innovative actions to tackle water pollution and improve EU preparedness for water-related climate change impacts.

In addition to the Conference that will take place on 12 December, an extensive agenda has been organised which also contains social events, Side Meetings on 11 December. Specifically, LIFE MCUBO brings together different LIFE projects on the theme of water and the environment in a conference entitled “More management, less impact”. Entities such as AZTI, Global Omnium, the University of Granada or the Technological Institute of Aragon (ITAINNOVA) will present their LIFE projects at the conference and will participate in a round table where environmental problems related to water and issues such as regulatory barriers in the reuse of reclaimed water will be addressed.
