Grupo UVESA, Pepsico Iberia and Gvtarra collaborate with the EU Project LIFE MCUBO, whose aim is to optimize water and energy consumption in the food industry and reduce the environmental impact related to its management.
The three companies, belonging to the sectors consuming more water in their processing (meat, beverage and canning industry), wanted to collaborate in this initiative to demonstrate that reducing water and energy consumption, far from opposing the company’s productivity improvement, makes it more profitable and more competitive.
The participation of each company has been based on the transfer of their facilities for the installation of wireless sensors developed within the LIFE MCUBO Project, which facilitate data capture in real time. In addition, they have participated in the planning of improvements in the processing thanks to the information obtained after the monitoring and modeling of their production processes. The next actions of the companies in the framework of the project will be aimed at the simulation of the proposed improvements in their production plant.
This tool, together with the continuous improvement systems already implemented in the collaborating companies, will help to achieve environmental and productivity improvements.
